Texting, surfing, Tinder’ing, selfie’ing – whatever you do with your iPhone – there isn’t a person alive who doesn’t want more life out of theirs. If you find your iPhone battery dies a quick death during the day, it’s likely because you’re, well, using up too much juice. So here’s some helpful hacks to keep you texting, Tinder’ing, selfie’ing, or whatever it is you do with your iPhone, longer.

Use Low Power Mode

This is the most obvious (or should be) hack of all. Low battery mode essentially makes your screen dimmer, a little slower and even dumber – but gives you 20 percent more juice to use throughout the day.

Check Your Battery Usage

Tap Settings Battery and then scroll down. You’ll immediately see which apps are the biggest drain on your battery – such as Facebook. So shut it down and save some juice, and, brain cells at the same time.

Reduce Motion

You know that really cool, but really useless parallax effect on your screen where the icons move separately from the background? Yeah, shut that off. It’s a real drain on your battery. Settings General Accessibility Reduce Motion

Auto Brightness

So, ummm, keeping your iPhone’s screen at its brightest uses up power, obviously. So switch to auto-brightness to allow your phone to dim in well lit situations. Settings Display & Brightness.

Turn Off Mobile Data

Ever been on the subway, only to find your iPhone is kinda warm once you get off? Yeah, well that because it keeps searching for networks to connect, then disconnect from as you fly by Wi-Fi hotspots. So during the ride to and from work, shut’er down.

Turn Vibrate Off

Not on silent mode? Then why vibrate? It takes a lot of power for your phone to vibrate in your pocket (as good as it feels).

Fetch, Don’t Push

If you need emails right away as soon as they’re sent to you – forget this one. But, if you can wait 15 minute intervals, then go Settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars – and switch from “push” to “fetch”.

Kill iCloud

So iCloud is great if you drop your phone in the bath, because it’ll still save your silly selfies to the Cloud. But just so you know, it’s constantly uploading data, which taxes your battery big time. So just tap Settings iCloud – and switch off all the apps you don’t want or need using it.
